Dapper Cigars Cubo Maduro | Cigar Review by Kaplowitz

"Have you Kaplowitz'd to-day?"

WRAPPER: Mexican San Andres
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan

FORMAT: Toro (650)
ORIGIN: Tabacaleras Carreras S.A., Nicaragua
STRENGTH: Mild-Medium

NOTES: Darkly bittersweet and thin notes. Mocha up-front & trailed closely by a peppered beef jerky bit. On down are toasted grains laid out over a smoky barnyard note. Quite purposefully delivered but in a gentle manner of doing-so -- not a ham-fisted narration. Not many notes, but all are played quite well.

Burns on an even line and draws nicely, smoothly. Ash fails to grow beyond a half-inch. Smokes whispy on its rest between puffs but once puffed, answers with a moderate billow. There is some anise through the schnoz and in the air about.

FINAL GRADE: B+
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 0-59

"The Cubo Maduro pays respect to my good friend Gonzalo Puente's specific palate. His love for Cuban Seed Habano and his obsession with heavy-seco blends that appeal to the nose are really what set the tone for this line. Every element in the band and packaging are all small nods to Gonzalo’s Cuban origins and the elegance of traditional cigars which I grew-up being fascinated with." - www.DapperCigars.com
