Tribe Out Classes Damn Yankees: An ALDS Game 1 Retrospective

Windians skipper Terry Francona took some guff from many a mouth over his decision to save staff ace Corey Kluber for to-morrow and start Trevor Bauer to-night. That all was gone by I imagine the second stanza of play. Then Bauer continued to shut mouths for another four frames. It was only then, in the sixth, that he surrendered his first base-knock. At night's end, he hurled 6 2/3 scoreless innings. The bull-pen kept the shut-out intact.

Offensively, Jay Bruce supplied all four runs tallied via homer and two-bagger. Whenst the Tribe acquired Bruce from the Metropolitans in August, they out wheeled-and-dealed the Damn Yankees in doing-so. A key to the deal was Cleveland's owner Paul Dolan agreeing to flip the bill on the $3.7M left on Bruce's contract. Good deal for deep pockets.

Longly now shortly, Progressive Field-goers saw their home-team win 4-0 to take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-five AL Division Series. And Kluber ain't even pitched yet.
