PENNANT RACES SEWN UP BY LABOR DAY
Labor Day is the home stretch, the championship rounds, of MLB pennant races. Typically. 2017 ain't unfurling typically. Now, as we collectively store aside our white pants in cardboard boxes under our beds, the playoff bracket seems already penned.

The Trolley Dodgers stand 12.5 games out-front in the NL West. The Nats out East are 16 up. In the fly-over states, the Cubbies are 3.5 ahead of the Brewers, each clicking well but Chicago more-so -- yet neither in league with my 'Zona's predicted deep wild-card run. And just 'cause a race is alive, don't mean it factors into THE race. Monkey wrench potentialities: Cards and D-Backs.

Out in the Junior League we see this again at our first and Eastern stop, as the Damn Yankees and BoSox will go at it tooth-and-nail in a manner which has no bearing outside their division and no interest outside their region. At typing, a 2.5 game lead is enjoyed by Boston. I say that holds. The Astros are 13.5 games ahead of the pack in the West. America's Team, in light of their Hurricane Harvey weathered assault. Verlander! Unfortunately, the Indians have decided to continue playing and are now10 games up in their division. Head to head, I got Cleveland. Monkey wrench potentialities: Twins and KC.

Dodgers and Indians meet in the Fall Classic.
As now I've put myself way out here on this unnecessary limb.
Congrats, Cleveland
(in six).

WHAT'S NEXT FOR KOVALEV?
A pair in a row of what some see as controversial losses to Andre Ward, seem to have left Krusher at least, lettuce say, tentative. There is an undeniable rough patch being trod under the bully's now less bullish feet. An Asian-American in his once indestructible armour, if ya will. He gassed two of them two times. It's rough all over. My rent was just raised 10%.

Kathy Duva, she whom failed him as badly as his cardio-vascular system failed himself, stated just recently and to RingTV: “Way premature. We’ll see. He is on vacation. He just visited the monastery at Mt. Athos in Greece. I have not spoken to him yet. But I have been told that, once his vacation is over, he will be ready to get right back to work.” On a vacation like the one Wladiimir Klitschko tok after losing to Anthony Joshua -- then retired after returning from? Most likely not, but make no mistake about it -- Kovlev is at a cross-roads.

That's all great, Kap. What's next for Kovalev? Dunno. What can't be next for the big Russian fella is another L. What can't be next is anything less than a return to mauling. Soitenly, the naysayers and haters will be right in calling a tomato can a tomato can, but Kovalev needs a tomato can more than a busy pizzeria doth. Thankfully, given the context, it's forgivable and rationally acceptable. The last thing he needs now is a test. I'll leave outside this write-up, what that leads me to believe of Krusher's character. Keeping in mind I predicted him quitting in Ward II. Really, it's a rebuild the Tigers would balk at.

MORSELS:
D-backs outfielder J.(ust)D.(ingers) Martinez's Labor Day laborings saw him join MLB history's 17 other swatters to have launched four homers in a game. This coming 'gainst the slumping Dodgers.

Hennesy Sports in partnership with YouTube, shall bring us the September 23rd Hughie Fury vs Joseph Parker bout LIVE for just under 10 pounds. I dunno what that is in USD.

The road to Kentucky Derby 2018 now has a European path. Last year, Japan. Next year, Dubai?

Anthony Joshua v Kubrat Pulev is on for October 28th. Said the Bulgarian Pulev: “In boxing, the boxers' styles dictate the match and there'll be not many hugs, there will be a heavy boxing.”

Gun Runner Rules in Woodward. Bolt d'Oro overcomes in Del Mar Futurity. Sharp Samurai slices and dices through the Del Mar Derby competition. Sporting Chance wins Saratoga's Hopeful Stakes.
