Sweet Piper Gigs | Hiatus Diary Entry 1/10

Sweet Piper Gigs | Hiatus Diary Entry 1/10

2/13/2023

Last night, I had a dream that I still remember. A pet peeve of mine is hearing people say they don't dream. We all dream--some of us are simply bad at remembering our dreams. Now, if that ain't a metaphor for something.

Anyways, Devon Larratt (arm wrestler) wanted me to attend some sort of get-together with him and was making it impossible for me to politely excuse my way out of going. I believe he wanted to introduce me to someone. My last reason why not to was cleared away with, and we were en route. Then I woke up.

This is technically or in all actuality my first day of hiatus so I rose slowly, made coffee, and did last night's dishes. I like to think about thoughts I have while scrubbing plates and pots. I also like this yearly break I gift myself the last half of each February. Then my mind stuck in the mud of Confucius or perhaps Mark Twain.

"Choose a job you love and you'll never have to work a day in your life."

You know what sounds neat? A couple of now extinct gigs. The first was being the Victorian Era gent who taught young up-and-comers to life in the high society how to properly smoke a tobacco pipe. The second and 'round that time also piper profession was being employed to break in the new pipes of the well-off. I'd imagine that there was some cross-over in the practitioners of these careers.

I'm sure the pay wasn't much for either but then again maybe I shouldn't be, figuring the hoity-toity clientele into account. What if someone were to bring those jobs back? Jobs. Dishes. Oatmeal requires the green scrubby treatment if left overnight. However, I prefer that to having someone soak the bowl and them feeling as if they contributed anything whatsoever.
