Tomorrow begins the italicized above and with it, my personal season of grieving. I've already begun the cycle and done-so with a new addition. The smart money says that when we grieve one, we grieve all our losses. That new addition is the little red house I occupied for a dozen years ending almost two years ago. This is my second hiatus in these new digs at the end of a cul-de-sac.
I miss the shady former neighbors I never minded. The newer-to-the-old neighborhood weed growers, and the old hat who would vacuum, literally Hoover, his off-puttingly blue-ish grass. I miss the shorter ceilings, and the carport that couldn't keep two of my bikes safe from bums (two separate bums, I'd imagine). Also the curious mold I could never chase fully from the confines of built-in shelving in upstairs bathroom.

I miss the chipped mason jars that were deemed unworthy of relocating to the new air-controlled pad with vaulted ceilings and automated sprinkler system. I miss my son Henry who died there in the old living room. His ashes are now on a somewhat fashionably mod mantel atop a propane fireplace I was warned does not really give off much heat if any. I lit it once and it smelled vaguely like sad progress.
Smoking: Los Statos Deluxe
Reading: Billy Budd, Herman Melville
That was an example of what you can expect to be posted here at KM. during my working hiatus this year, from the 14th till the 28th of February (barring weekends and US Federal Holidays). Brevity will be attempted, as I look forward to getting to work on other projects.
I should also note that these entries could well read more similarly to a thought I recently shared via the Kaplowitz Media. Twitter account: "If the western world has any hope, and if for some reason it could be found in sporting endeavors, it's there in arm wrestling and competitive eating." (An earnest statement.) It'll be a mixed bag. Regular programming will resume on March 1, 2023.
