Sits with excellent clarity in the cup, & a matte finish shine. Reddish-golden inky amber hue. Noses smoky with an underneath mineral saltiness. Sips are the aforementioned nosings with darkly herbaceous notes braced my peppery softwoods.
Slurps bring out overtones of further mineral soapy lilts, bringing it on-par with the familiar Lapsang Souchong smokiness. More earth, richly. A bit of an unfortunate tar lilt. Parts of this are a lot like the experience of smoking Kentucky Fire Cured cigars.
Finish exhibits a slight citrus crispness, cleanly. Overall, a smooth of body offering with just a tick of astringency via that piney softwood. A bit buttery on the tongue. Not complex, but quite nuanced. Hearty and robust. Rustic. A meal of a tea, this.
FINAL GRADE: B+
