LA drew first blood against 'Zona, winning game one of the best-of-five NLDS by a final tally of 9-5. Thus snapping their six-game losing streak to the Dbacks. A goodly first step in clean-slating their regular season 11-8 record 'gainst 'em.
The Dodgers bats were led by Justin Turner's five RBI night, which tied the Dodgers post-season standard held by Davey Lopes in 1978 and too by Pedro Guerrero in '81. Defensively, Clayton Kershaw had somewhat of a bi-polar performance. He entered the affair with a whopping 4.55 career playoff ERA, so many a Trolley-dodger nail were being bit in anticipation. The ace mainly aced his six inning-long exam. But along the way he gave up solo homers to A.J. Pollock in the third, and in the sixth to Martinez. He surprisingly came out for the seventh stanza despite a career 23.82 play-off ERA in that frame. He promptly surrendered back-to-back jacks to Adam Rosales and Ketel Marte. Kenley Jansen closed it-out.
