Cubs Hold Off Nats: An NLDS Game 1 Retrospective

Washington’s hurler Stephen Strasburg was dominant, taking a no-hitter into the sixth-inning and tallying ten Ks. A second-stanza base-on-balls to Addison Russell led to the Cubbies’ only base-runner in that period. But Chicago's Kyle Hendricks matched him toss-for-toss till the second city's bats warmed on a pair of two-out ribbie singles from Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. The runs held up as Hendricks limited the Nats to a mere two base-knocks in seven shut-out innings. He then gave way to a fully capable Cubs bullpen for a 3-0 victory.
The closest Washington came to scoring was in the fourth, whenst Hendricks put two on via BBs. But Ryan Zimmerman aided the enemy, grounding into a double play. So no real threat.

The first pitch was thrown out by Rep. Steve Scalise, whom was shot four months ago whilst practising for the annual Congressional baseball game, which was played at Nationals Park. Just last week, Scalise returned to Congress for the first time.
