Nicaraguan-made

I reviewed the Robusto offering HERE.
*spoiler alert*
This 'un is a more roasty/smoky affair.
THE KVELL
Draw is a spot-on even medium tension.
Dark chocolate shavings and chocolate sprinkles.
Toasted buttered Pumpernickel and Fruitcake? Okay!
Smoky walnut retro-hale with black pepper.
Cedar is quite nuanced and transitional.
Smooth delivery of rather intense notes...
... humsover, less intense than the Robusto offering.
Richly brewed French roast coffee.
Verily earth. Manure*, compost, barnyard, top-soil.
Grows increasingly meaty in a jerky manner.

THE KVETCH
Line is a tick or two wavy in 1/3 and 3/3. Self-corrects; never perfects.
Ash is somewhat loose.
Some mottling of flavors in the roasty/smoky thickness.
*Manure has a tick a' tang.

THE KIBBITZ
Transitions appear herein the Xiphos NR Maduro mainly as alternating heady nuances of notes. Nuanced heavily, complexities are deep depths of them nuances intermingling. Cedar/earth/coffee are of great interest. As is Fruitcake/black bread. Less spicy than I had expected on the heels of the blend in Robusto. Medium+ profile with a tick below re: strength. Finish is a long earthen bittersweet, which at times ends a bit less than cleanly via a slight charcoal vibe.

As stated in my kvetch category, burn-line ne'er finds an elusive perfection, but no re-touch is nigh mandated. Ash starts prettier than it ends. Pacing is mayhaps quick-ish, but more than acceptable. Pack density is dense, yes -- stays so throughout with only very minimal softening. Seems don't budge an iota. Draw is smooth and even gate-to-wire, ending in a cool nubbin'. Xiphos, gentlepersons, is a brand worthy of getting to know.

FINAL GRADE
****B+****
2016 CIGAR MILE
(Horse Racing) For a cigar-centric blog with an interest in the ponies (and if ya like this sorta thing, welcome to www.kaplowitz.xyz: yer home for this sorta thing), the Grade I Cigar Mile at the big A is like the Super Bowl, epis. Here are the probables for the Nov. 26th festivities:

CONNECT Last go was a win at GII Pennsylvania Derby. Prior to that, finished 6th at the GI Travers. Seems like here could be home.

ANCHOR DOWN Won the GII Kelso his last run, Came in 6th at the GI Vanderbilt Hcp before that. A susceptible favorite.

DIVING ROD Finished 2nd most recently at GrII Fayette, 5th at the Gr II Smarty Jones 'fore dat. Look elsewhere here. Trust me.

WAR STORY An 8th place BC finish preceded by a 7th finish at GrI Pacific. Must be the cool name that keeps this pony garnering parimutuel action.

OCEAN NIGHT 3rd place in the Kelso after placing at a Belmont allowance race. Makes such lil sense ya gotta wonder what his trainers might see. Don't drop sense on that kinda cents. Or something.

TALE OF S'AVAL Finished 7th at the GrI King's Bishop then won a Belmont allowance race. Trying to find level, might actually do-so in this field. Could use him for a good price.

ECONOMIC MODEL Finished 2nd in King's Bishop then 3rd in GrIII Bold Ruler. Tough to figure, so I won't. A potential 'if feces meets fan' beneficiary.

REALM Finished 2nd then most recently won in Belmont Allowance goes. Improving, but needs to jump ahead again here. Won't. But won't be shameful.

THREEFIVEINDIA Finished in the moolah, sans winning in the GrIIIs Gallant Bob then Bold Ruler. Intriguing up until ya realize he ain't.

MYLUTE Ran 4th in both the Bold Ruler, prior to that the Seattle Slew. A 6 year-old with a solid if not stellar career. Never can tell, gentlepersons.

This trip around the sun's Cigar Mile don't feature the best field, but it doth do a dang interesting one. Tapit and Curlin see their kiddies running. Anchor Down and Diving Rod from Tapit. Ocean Knight and Connect from Tapit. Pletcher trained Anchor Down will be seen by many as a goodly safe bet. I'm looking at Connect/Anchor Down/Tale of S'aval. For entertainment purposes only, gentlepersons. Don't bet the dough dough.

I shall pair this fine 'nuff and  meaningful to me race with an Ave Maria Reconquista. An offering I previously reviewed HERE. Look for my race and cigar review to follow. It shall also include a Cigar write-up, great horse.
