Baseball Tidbits, Featuring: Indians, Verlander, Damn Yankees, Otani, Ty Cobb, & Ted Williams

WINDIANS SET AL WIN-STREAK RECORD
With the Tribe's 5-3 road-victory over the Tigers, they now sit atop the 2002 A's mark and tied with the 1935 Cubbies at 21. Humsoever, MLB's stat-keeper, Elias Sports Bureau, and thus MLB, recognize a Giants’ streak as history's longest. But that included a tie. And I don't suffer soccer.

VERLANDER DOMINATES
In his second start for Houston Tuesday, Verlander succeeded wherest Keuchel failed Sunday. He played Ace. Stopped the team's losing-streak at four. He done this over 8 innings; one hit given-up. The final was 1-0, the 'Stros magic number moved to five. Looks like they got their Game 1 starter.

DODGERS WIN, CLINCH
Nigh three weeks-ago, LA was the best team of late and paving the foundation of ever. Yesterday, their cold bats and collapsed rotation ecstatically ended an 11-game losing-streak over MLB second-worst Giants. Win they did, tho. 5-3 with Kershaw hurling six strike-outs. This clinches a playoff spot for the Dodgers.

YANKS LOSE HOME/ROAD GAME
Sonny Gray tossed a complete-game 2-1 loss 'gainst the hurricane-displaced Rays whom played this "home"game in the Yanks hometown. Aaron "Kingman" Judge lead the icy bats with three strike-outs. Damn Yankees ain't so tough at Citi whenst not bullying Mets. Still four back of BoSox; still ain't running 'em down.

SHOHEI OTANI HEADED STATE-SIDE
23 year-old Otani is the ichiban hurler/slugger of all Japan. He can throw 100+ heaters and swat moon-shots all the live-long. Plus, he ain't 'bout them Benjamins. He'll be leaving a fortune in Japan, for MLB restricts signings of international players under 25 to $10 million. Damn Yankees: interested.

TO-DAY IN 1909 & 1946 BASEBALL
Detroit Tiger Ty Cobb hits his ninth homer of 1909, each of the inside-the-park varietal. This secures his sole home run title. Exposing the "Boudreau shift," Ted Williams hits his only inside-the-park homer. It's the one in a 1-0 win over Cleveland, clinching the 1946 American League title for Boston.
