Felix Assouline Cigars EGO Ocean Blue | Cigar Review Redux by Kaplowitz

"Have you Kaplowitz'd to-day?"

I first reviewed this blend in its Toro "Monsoon" iteration ((( link ))) thx

Felix Assouline EGO Ocean Blue
WRAPPER: Nicaraguan Habano 98
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan

FORMAT: 552 Box-pressed Perfecto "Perfect Storm"
ORIGIN: Nicaragua
STRENGTH: Medium-Full

NOTES: Round and creamy, like I understand some men like their women. Darkly delivered, as I understand some women prefer... nvm. Heavy notes of dark chocolate and Cuban coffee. Loads of leathery oils. Plenty of pepper but not as up-front as in the Toro offering. Spices are warm red stuff in a meaty broth. I taste a wine barrel. This Perfect Storm gets right to where the Monsoon winds up. Hibiscus notes flit in and out. Through the nose is an almost startling shift to salted car-a-mel & white pepper.

Burn operates on a slight and uncorrectable yet not worsening wobble. Char appears brighter-hot than moderate but smoke to smoke--hole remains tepid if not cuke-cool. Ash grows well to a solid oily inch. Press holds quite well. Draws smoothly from gate-to-wire.

FINAL GRADE: A-
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 0-59
