Lemieux KOs Stevens, Gamboa UDs Alvarado

B"H
March 11, 2017 -- Turning Stone Resort and Casino -- Verona, New York
Mr. David Lemieux (36-3-0-32) had a March 2016 fight with one Mr. James De La Rosa canceled on the scales, on account a' being unable to make weight. Tonight, live on HBO, he showed up a bit loose and fleshy -- a possible if not probable sign of further scale dramatics. He then proceeded to take a bombastic barrage tact all the way into the middle of the second round whenst he began to work his jab against Mr. Curtis Stevens (29-5-0-21) whom seemed to somewhat live up to his new "Cerebral Assassin" nom de ring in a selective if not thoughtful leashing of superfluous leather.

Momentum seemed swinging in Stevens' direction then-abouts and till a Lemieux short left hook followed after a straight right, only a bissell interrupted by a Stevens counter left hook, ended the evening in an early knock-out of the year candidate. Lemieux whom was once known by a thunderous right-hand alone, hath since worked up his left to be nigh thunderous-er. Unconscious before meeting canvas, out-stretched limply on his back under the ropes and for a moment, his mother's hand -- Stevens left the arena for a local hospital strapped to gurney and finally conscious after a lengthy unconsciousness. The KO came at 1:59 of the third round bout which was scheduled for a championship-length'd 12 rounds with Lemieux's NABO Middleweight crown on the line.

Mr. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez was a name bandied about prior to fight night, as a potential dibs-on-winner caller. Many are excited by that possibility, particularly more-so than either of to-nite's men losing convincingly and again to one Mr. Gennady "GGG" Golovkin -- whom's already blown Stevens outta the water and out-classed Lemieux. Gentlepersons, let that scenario seep in, as we are led to collectively look past Cinco de Mayo's Canelo showdown with Mr. Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. toward a Lemieux match-up. How much better is GGG than the rest? Answer: much.

Briefly, in a bout leading up to this main event: a 35 year-old Cuban fighter coming off 15 months on the shelf was engaged in a "boring" bout? I am aghast, gentlpersons. Congrats to Welterweight pugilist, Mr. Yuriorkis Gamboa for his unanimous decision victory over Super Featherweight Mr. Rene Alvarado.
