Gran Habano Gran Reserva #5 (2010) Imperial (Gordo) - Cigar Review by Kaplowitz

"Have you Kaplowitz'd to-day?"

Gran Habano Gran Reserva #5 (2010)
WRAPPER: Nicaraguan Corojo
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan

FORMAT: Gordo "Imperial" (660)
ORIGIN: G.R. Tabacaleras Unidas, S.A., Honduras
STRENGTH: Medium

NOTES: Smooth of body? Try a baby sitting in melted butter. Cool of temp? Try a cucumber set on the other side of yer pillow. Rich? Try MC Hammer before the IRS. Begins in a mild honey - hibiscus manner, matures to include deepening warmer nuances of cashew & cocoa butters slathered on toasted softwoods. Earthen & softly sunlit. Burns sans the need for redirection and draws easily/evenly gate-to-wire. Finishes somewhat abruptly with a white pepper addition.

FINAL GRADE: A-
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 0-59

"The Gran Habano Gran Reserva #5 2010, also blended by Rico, shares many of the same tobaccos as the Gran Reserva #3 2009, but a different blend of tobaccos gives it a different flavor progression ... The wrapper is a 2005 Corojo leaf and the binder is a 2005 Habano leaf, both from the Jalapa valley in Nicaragua. The fillers are a mix of Habano ligero from Jalapa that was picked in 2004 and Habano ligero from Esteli that was harvested in 2003." - www.Halfwheel.com (2012)
