Illusione Cigars Epernay Serie 2009 Le Grande - Cigar Review Redux by Kaplowitz

"Why not Kaplowitz?"

Illusione Epernay
WRAPPER: Nicaraguan Cafe Rosado
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan Criollo & Corojo

FORMAT: Le Grande (Grand Corona-esque) 646
ORIGIN: Nicaragua
STRENGTH: Mild-Medium

NOTES: Epernay? More like Eper-yay! Front-loaded w/ a driving & buttery white pepper paving the way for a rich toasted cream w/ a slight citrus attachment. Truckstop coffee, white chocolate, nutmeg, car-a-mel, clover honey, nougat, ginger. Smooth as the once baby butt of the Baron Administrator of Cloud City. As complex as that imagery. Finish is long and sweet and leathery-oily. Draws evenly and cooly gate-to-wire. Burn-line is a razor. Ash clings to an admirably solid length.

FINAL GRADE: A
A 90-100 B 80-89 C 70-79 D 60-69 F 0-59

Original review of the Epernay blend: La Ferme 5 1/4 x 48 Robusto (LINK)

"A blend of Nicaraguan Criollo '98 and Corojo '99, and finished with a AAA Grade Corojo Cafe Rosado wrapper. Mild bodied and very complex. A connoisseurs cigar." - www.IllusioneCigars.com
