Cubbies Edge-out Natties: An NLDS Game 3 Retrospective

The Chicago Cubs beat the Washington Nationals in game three of the their NLDS show-down by a score of 2-1. This gives them a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series.
Anthony Rizzo produced the decisive run via seeing-eye single in the bottom of the Wrigley eighth-stanza. The game show-cased and hinged upon a fantastic pitching duel twixt the North-sider's Jose Quintana and DC's Max Scherzer.

First blood was drawn by the Nats in the sixth-frame off a fly-ball dropped by catcher-cum out fielder Kyle Schwarber was kicked into further miscue by Daniel Murphy. The seventh stanza saw the Nationals respond whenst Ben Zobrist broke up Scherzer's no-hitter with a two-bagger, then was driven home by Albert Almora, Jr. Then, cue the aforementioned Rizzo heroics.

Game one saw Stephen Strasburg bid for a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Today, 'twas Scherzer whom took his bid into the seventh. Each ending in losing efforts for Washington against a Cubs squad with definite "it" factor.
