Astros Send Red Sox Home: An ALDS Game 4 Retrospective

The Houston Astros became the first MLB team to punch their league championship ticket with a 5-4 game-four win. This means, of course, that the BoSox are first to the links.

The short prior to the ensuing somewhat longer: Justin Verlander out-aced Chris Sale in a relief battle. ...
In the rain. With a pair of lead swings. Oy vey, the drama! Alex Bregman went yard off Sale to knot it in the eighth, then Josh Reddick ribbie'd off closer Craig Kimbrel later in the same frame. Devers hit a 9th-stanza inside-the-parker in which he stepped on the plate prior to the ball finding its way back to the Fenway infield. Back in the second, Dustin Padroia was called out on strikes as part of Boston stranding the bases jammed with no outs. John Farrell was then thrown out protecting him. Farrell opted to not pull a Bobby Valentine and return in flimsy disquise.

Padroia made the final out.
Congrats to the 'Stros.
